OFPT CERTIFICATION

​OFPT Certification is a deep dive into all things TMJ. By combining online learning pre-course, 16 hours of in-person, hands-on training over 3 days, and post-course video resources/support, you will be certified and set-up for success to help thousands in need of proper TMJ care.

 

The course is designed to educate and empower manual therapist such as Chiropractors, Massage Therapists and others, to accurately diagnose TMDs, safely and effectively treat patients, and how to build referral networks within their community to grow their practice and create a sustainable business. 

 

The OFPT course uses the most up-to-date evidence and 20+ years of clinical experience to make sense of a joint that is often ignored and not well understood.

The Registration Process

​

​Unlike other courses, you must first apply to attend the OFPT course. This allows for only the highest quality of training and practitioners, while maintaining a geographical referral network where you can be the go-to practitioner for TMJ care around your clinic. We are more focused on providing top-level care, than over saturating the market.

​

After submitting your application, you will have a phone call with co-founder Dr. Chris Oswald to ensure the course is the best fit for you, and that your practice area is available.

 

Once accepted, you will be granted access to 15 hours of pre-course reading and video content to best prepare for the in-person course.

Step 1: 15 hours of pre-course content.

3-Day Schedule Example:

 

Day 1

• Review current information for TMD’s including epidemiology 

• Anatomy of the head, neck, and stomatognathic system

• Hands-on palpation practice

• Review of the DC-TMD and common language to optimize communication with dental referrals

• History taking for the Allied Health Professional

Day 2

• Physical Assessments for jaw and facial pains

• Clinical case studies from subjective to physical to diagnosis

• Review of the 5 most common TMDs

• TMDs and imaging

• Common TMD treatments​

• Rehabilitation techniques, conservative-reversible therapy, and self-care

• Basic dental examination to rule out odontogenic pain 

• Trismus

Day 3

• Cervicogenic oro-facial pain

• Practical cervical spine exam

• Cervicogenic dizziness

• Common comorbidities 

• Common red flags

• Testing, grading and certification!

Step 3: 10 hours of post-course virtual training. Through access to our resource database, observe Dr. Sid Lisser and the OFPT Team conduct new patient assessments, walk through treatments, and refreshers on anatomy landmarking and treatment techniques/handling.

Step 4: Utilize your new OFPT Certified Title and start treating jaw patients in a completely new way!
